Legal & Privacy Notice
Effective date: 30 March 2026
1. Who we are
IRAC Coach is a study tool operated as an independent web application at iraccoach.co.uk. References to “we”, “us”, or “our” in this notice refer to the operator of IRAC Coach. For queries: info@iraccoach.co.uk.
2. Nature of the Service
IRAC Coach is a study aid for students practising IRAC-structured legal writing. Outputs are generated by AI models and are provided solely for educational practice purposes. They are not:
- Legal advice — nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice, a legal opinion, or legal representation of any kind.
- Authoritative academic assessment — feedback does not replicate or guarantee alignment with any institution's marking scheme, learning outcomes, or curriculum standards.
- A substitute for tutor or supervisor guidance — always refer to your course materials, reading list, and teaching staff.
3. Study aid disclaimer and limitation of liability
We expressly disclaim all liability for any examination result, assessment grade, degree classification, academic progression decision, or any other academic or professional consequence arising from use of or reliance on IRAC Coach.
AI-generated feedback is probabilistic in nature. It may contain errors, incomplete analysis, or commentary that does not reflect the specific expectations of your institution, module, or examiner. You must apply your own judgment and rely on your course materials when interpreting any output.
For full liability provisions see our Terms of Service.
4. Academic integrity
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of IRAC Coach complies with your institution's academic integrity policy, generative-AI rules, and any assessment-specific guidance. We do not endorse any use of Service outputs that would breach those policies. Policies vary significantly between institutions — always check your faculty's current published guidance.
5. Personal data we collect
When you use IRAC Coach we may collect and process the following:
- Account data — name and email address provided via Google Sign-In when you create an account.
- Essay and feedback data — questions and answers you submit, and the feedback generated, saved against your account when you are signed in.
- Usage data — anonymised analytics (page views, feature interactions) to help us improve the Service.
- Waitlist data — email address if you sign up to our mailing list.
6. How we use personal data
We use your data to:
- Provide and operate the Service (including saving your essays and feedback history).
- Send transactional emails relating to your account.
- Send Service updates or study resource emails where you have opted in (mailing list).
- Improve and maintain the Service via aggregated, anonymised analytics.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your submitted essay content to train AI models without your explicit consent.
7. Data retention and deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting info@iraccoach.co.uk. We will action account erasure requests within 30 days and provide confirmation. Anonymised aggregated analytics data may be retained beyond this period.
8. Third-party services
The Service uses the following third-party providers:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and account management. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
- AI model providers — essay text you submit is sent to AI API providers to generate feedback. These providers may have their own data retention policies; we select providers with appropriate data protection commitments.
- Resend — email delivery for account and mailing-list emails.
- Analytics — anonymised, cookieless usage analytics.
9. Cookies
IRAC Coach uses session cookies required for authentication and Service operation. We use a cookieless analytics solution that does not track you across sites and does not require a cookie consent banner under current UK/EU guidance. No advertising or profiling cookies are used.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights contact info@iraccoach.co.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
